Welcome to Slippery Elmshoot Farm

Slippery Elmshoot Farm specializes in the breeding of native Connemara ponies. As member of the American Connemara Pony Society, Slippery Elmshoot Farm strives to preserve the breed characteristics of this Irish pony breed and to aid in the awareness of this great pony.

Along with the Connemara Pony breeding program, Slippery Elmshoot Farm is also home to the Slippery Elmshoot Inn. This colonial inspired Bed and Breakfast is situated in the heart of Brown County, Indiana. Known for it’s at home charm, this Bed and Breakfast offers several getaway packages to help plan that special weekend. With being just minutes from Nashville and Bloomington, Indiana, Slippery Elmshoot Inn offers a great retreat to the country, while still being close to town to enjoy many of the great tourist attractions its neighboring cities have to offer. The Hand Maiden is the Basket Studio of Kathy Sparks.  Since 1979, Kathy has been making elegant, yet simple Shaker Baskets, constructed of Brown Ash.  All materials are carefully prepared from trees harvested in New England.  Each basket is a true work of art and fashioned after those made by the Shakers.  The Shakers were a religious sect, known for their spiritual approach to life that exhaulted simplicity, harmony and perfection in all they did whether it was their music, furniture, gardening or cooking.  Kathy has enjoyed a long friendship with Martha Wetherbee, renowned Historian and expert on Shaker Baskets.  Baskets are available by commission.
